Samsung Climate Solutions and Unitherm (UK) have announced their partnership, which will see them deliver innovative heating solutions to both the domestic and commercial markets in the UK.

Established in 2020, Unitherm (UK) specialises in distributing energy efficient solutions for heating systems, while Samsung Climate Solutions was set up by Samsung seven years ago in response to increasing demand for its HVAC products, with the goal of supporting the UK in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, the Government’s net-zero target.

Speaking on the partnership, Andy Hooper, Managing Director at Unitherm (UK) Ltd., said: “Samsung Climate Solutions is an organisation that never stands still, its continuous investment in new HVAC systems, and associated technology is second to none. This has resulted in development of a wide range of products and initiatives. Most recently, by the launch of the revolutionary EHS Mono R290 heat pump with integrated system components. Boasting a very low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just three, it provides a suitable replacement for homes dependent on fossil fuel heating systems. On top of this, integration with Samsung’s EHS Cloud Service, makes diagnostics possible without installers attending the site[1].  Innovations like this make life easier for our customers. Such technology has a major role to play in helping us increase efficiencies within the UK’s building stock and reduce the impact heating and cooling is having on a warming climate.”

Kevin O’Leary, Business Manager, Heating Products Distribution – UK & IE at Samsung Climate Solutions, added: “Our partnership with Unitherm UK will deliver huge growth opportunities for both businesses. Unitherm UK are a leading distributor of renewable heating solutions providing tailored solutions, defined using specialist knowledge, supported by excellent customer service, this aligns completely with our goals and our customer’s needs. Samsung’s Heat pump product portfolio offers a range of solutions for both new build and retrofit applications. Designed with both installers and consumers in mind, they are easy to install, with user-friendly, intuitive controls, our Wi-Fi enabled systems controlled via the Samsung SmartThings home automation app. System monitoring and remote servicing maintenance can be enabled via the Samsung EHS Cloud service. By combining our knowledge and working in partnership, we will be able to meet the growing demands in the market.”

The EHS Mono R290, designed for both domestic renovations and new build applications, offers a flow temperature of up to 75 °C[2]. Available in a wide range of output capacities from 5 to 16kW, to meet project requirements, low operational noise, sound power levels as low as 35 dB(A) using a 4-step quiet mode[3]. The units are equipped with Propane (R290), a natural refrigerant with a low GWP[4]. By introducing this new range, Samsung has solutions future-proofed in anticipation of revised F-gas regulations, scheduled to come into force in the late 2020’s.

The new range of heat pumps can also be connected to SmartThings*, one of the largest open ecosystems of connected devices worldwide, managed via a free app, to maximise savings and optimise energy usage.
