ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America Educational Institute (ACCA-EI) Standards Task Team has issued a new project notification for a proposed addendum to ANSI/ACCA Manual S® – 2023, Residential Equipment Selection.
Manual S®, approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), sets out procedures for selecting residential HVACR equipment based on calculated heating and cooling loads derived from ACCA Manual J®. It details how to apply original equipment manufacturer (OEM) data to ensure systems are appropriately sized for performance, efficiency and comfort.
The proposed Addendum “C” seeks to clarify and correct specific requirements within the normative sections of the current Manual S® document. This follows the approval of Addenda “A” and “B” by ANSI in 2024.
The project has been submitted through ANSI’s Project Initiation Notification System (PINS) and is scheduled to appear in the ANSI Standards Action on Friday, 11 April 2025. The public comment period will run until Sunday, 11 May 2025. A draft version of the proposed addendum is expected to be made available for public review after that date.
Manual S® continues to serve as a key standard for contractors, supporting consistent and professional equipment selection practices across the residential HVACR sector.
