Controls manufacturer CAREL, in collaboration with Technoelectric, has provided retailer Mega Image with the Total-Store system for energy monitoring and optimisation across 973 stores in Romania, achieving an overall energy saving of 14%.
Total-Store is a solution designed to integrate refrigeration, HVAC and lighting technologies, allowing remote management of all energy consumption areas, both for new store projects and for retrofitting existing ones. Based on an analysis conducted on a sample of stores, this choice has enabled the Ahold Delhaize group retailer to achieve a reduction in CO₂ emissions of 6.39 kilotons, with an estimated annual cost saving of €5.3 million.
Mega Image, which required a scalable solution capable of real-time energy consumption monitoring and optimisation, found Total-Store to be a flexible system ideal for managing complex and third-party technologies, ensuring a smooth transition to natural refrigerants and a significant reduction in operating costs.
CAREL has developed a centralised, integrated system that monitors and optimises the various energy consumption areas of the stores. The Total-Store solution not only reduces energy consumption but also offers advanced monitoring tools for optimal resource and process management, such as automatic HACCP reporting for temperature compliance and remote diagnostics to avoid on-site interventions.
"Our goal is to provide technological solutions that help our customers improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact," said Michele Mohorovicich, Marketing Manager Refrigeration – EMEA at CAREL. "Thanks to the collaboration with Technoelectric, we have once again demonstrated how innovation, centralised control, and the scalability of solutions can generate measurable savings, actively contributing to the green transition of Mega Image stores."
CAREL will be available to discuss this and other projects at Chillventa in Nuremberg next month (Hall 5, Stand 304-306).
