Midea Group has completed the acquisition of ARBONIA climate and announced a new alliance with fellow group business Clivet, called MBT Climate.
Midea says the companies will join forces and expand their market and innovation leadership in Europe with their complementary product offering.
ARBONIA climate was previously part of Arbonia AG, based in Switzerland. In facilities throughout Europe, the group develops and manufactures products and systems for sustainable heating and cooling generation, heating and cooling distribution, energy storage, ventilation and air treatment. The division includes system brands KERMI, PROLUX, SABIANA and VASCO, as well as focused brands arbonia, Britec, Brugman, Cicsa, PZP, Solius, Superia, Tecna and Termovent.
Clivet, based in northern Italy, was acquired by Clivet in 2016 and specialises in the development, manufacture and distribution of intelligent systems for heating, cooling, air renewal and purification. The company offers a wide range of HVAC solutions for the residential, commercial, industrial and IT sectors.
Effective immediately, the joint management team for MBT Climate will be led by Stefano Bellò, President, Alexander Kaiss, Senior Vice-President, and Kobe Peng, Vice-President.
A statement said: "By leveraging each other’s capabilities and resources, MBT Climate is well positioned to expand its strength as a leading HVAC solution provider in Europe. With ARBONIA climate’s and Clivet´s customer base and channels, know-how and production facilities, high-quality services, and complementary products, as well as Midea’s technical advantages and R&D investment, MBT Climate will offer a seamless, end-to-end solution for climate control, providing customers with the convenience and efficiency of a single-source system provider.
Midea says it plans to create sustainable growth momentum to drive the sustainable energy transition in the building sector with a strong European entity. It added: “Midea will continue to invest in the existing sites, employees and research and development departments of Clivet and ARBONIA climate. We are planning a long-term and successful future together.”
