Barry Wilson, the founder and former managing director of Advanced Engineering, has died at the age of 82.
A well-known figure in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry for over 40 years and a long-term member of the Institute of Refrigeration, Barry was instrumental in introducing the UK to the first oil-less recovery machines and pioneering fluorescent leak detection in the industry.
He left school at 15, starting a refrigeration engineer apprenticeship. In 1975 he set up Emmergrover and Mint Conditioning Ltd. These businesses eventually became Advanced Engineering, where he helped build the successful world-wide chemical cleaning brand and distributor of specialist refrigeration equipment such as Promax Recovery machines and Spectroline.
Outside of work, Barry led a busy life with his wife, Janet, and three children, whilst working tirelessly within the community.
A celebration of his life is planned to take place in the next few weeks.
