Carel has published a new white paper entitled Indoor air quality - Guaranteeing health and comfort in buildings, which examines the importance of indoor air quality and its impact on the health and wellbeing of building occupants.

While outdoor air quality has been regulated for decades to protect public health, air quality in the indoor spaces where we spend around 92% of our time is equally important. In enclosed environments, it is more likely to encounter high concentrations of pollutants, such as formaldehyde and particulate matter (PM), as well as a greater spread of microscopic pathogens, including viruses.

The new white paper looks at global regulations and recent studies on IAQ, highlighting the need to monitor key parameters such as temperature, humidity and ventilation, as well as the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) and pollutants.

Raul Simonetti, Carel’s HVAC/R Corporate Business Manager, said: “We are pleased to present this new paper, once again demonstrating our commitment to raising awareness of the trends and solutions for better indoor air quality management. As can be seen from some of the latest legislation and regulations, IAQ needs to be given the same importance as aspects such as sustainability and decarbonisation, to ensure that protecting human health and protecting the environment go hand-in-hand.”
