Hampshire Refrigeration Society (HRS) has urged the industry to support its local societies, or risk losing them for ever.
The latest HRS Technical Breakfast Briefing is due to take place in Portsmouth next Tuesday (July 5) but a lack of bookings for the event could see it cancelled.
HRS chairman John Emm said: "We have a very low attendance booked for this TBB. If we do not receive any further bookings, we will unfortunately have to cancel for the first time in our 40+ year history, except for Covid issues.
"We have three excellent speakers who are taking their time out, with some travelling from the north of England to present.
"This is your society; please support it if you want it to continue. This may seem a harsh statement, but it is true. We’ve seen numerous societies collapse over the years, never to be seen again. The latest departure was the London Refrigeration Society, which had run for nearly 50 years, meaning the HRS is now the longest serving society in the UK.''
Next week's planned event is scheduled to take place at Highbury College in Portsmouth (registration 8am). Speakers are:
- Mark Hughes of Chemours: “Refrigerant Update to include F-Gas and the Impact on Refrigerant Quotas”
- Toby Cartlidge of City of Portsmouth College: “The Journey to Net Zero”
- Steve Taliadoros of LU-VE Group: “ Plan your Install” and “How to get the best from your Cooler”
