Dr Laura Kent from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers has been announced as the first keynote speaker for the Institute of Refrigeration International Refrigeration Committee’s business briefing on extreme heat, taking place in Birmingham on 14 November.
Drawing insights from IMechE's report, Adapting Industry to Withstand Rising Temperatures and Future Heatwaves, Dr. Kent's presentation will explore the impact of increasingly frequent extreme heat events on both industries and their workforce. She will also delve look at crucial role engineers must play in responding to these challenges.
The one-day programme for Extreme Heat - The Impact of the Warming World on Refrigeration will feature presentations on current practices for effectively tackling extreme ambient temperature issues. Delegates attending the event will gain insights into how extreme heat events are managed in countries like Jordan and India, offering lessons that the UK can incorporate into its own cooling strategies.
The event will also include a panel discussion on the proactive measures that UK businesses can adopt to counteract the effects of rising temperatures.
