Mitsubishi Electric says it will showcase its heat reuse solutions at this year’s Data Centre World Exhibition at London’s ExCeL (12-13 March).
The manufacturer will be exhibiting its mission-critical Critical Power DCIM UPS, containerised and IT cooling solutions, which are designed exclusively for the cooling demands of data centres, at Stand DC315.
Mitsubishi Electric has also produced a CPD-certified guide which focuses on the role that heat reuse can play in decarbonising data centres, by looking at these buildings as potential energy sources and applying wasted heat to other applications.
“There’s been a great deal of focus on selecting the right cooling technologies while also reducing energy consumption, but we believe there is another way to approach this challenge,” explains EMEA ITC Business Leader for Mitsubishi Electric, Simon Prichard. “If we look at data centres as sources of heat energy then this can then be applied to other buildings, creating a localised heat network and reducing overall energy consumption.”
Developments in heat pumps – which use low-grade heat as their energy source – and heat networks are making this scenario more achievable, and the method has already been adopted in countries across northern Europe.
Mitsubishi Electric’s Critical Power division, which supplies medium and low voltage distribution solutions, UPS, energy management, data visualisation and other operational software to data centres, will also be sharing the stand.
