The Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) has launched a Terminology Handbook to support building controls and automation professionals.

‘Navigating Building Controls & Automation – A Terminology Handbook’ aims to help people in the industry understand the standard terminology and definitions used throughout the sector.

The handbook has been developed to bring clarity and empower those working in Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), in-house BEMS teams, engineers, and specialists involved in the specification or facilities management of building control systems.

Stacey Lucas, President of the BCIA, believes the new handbook will be invaluable for anyone in the BEMS sector, whether apprentices or vastly experienced engineers. She said: “The new Terminology Handbook is designed to demystify industry jargon and terminology, and empower professionals across the sector. As a clear and accessible resource, it aims to provide clarity for those involved at any stage of a BMS project.”
