Panasonic has been selected as a finalist in the British Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2024, vying for the Employer of the Year title. The winners will be revealed on June 27 at a black-tie gala dinner in London.
"Our Armed Forces perform a vital role in safeguarding our nation," said Jose Alves, Regional Director for Panasonic UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands. "We are honoured to support the veterans and reservists within our company. Signing the Armed Forces Covenant significantly reinforced our commitment to those who dedicate their lives to protecting our country.”
Panasonic's support has been transformative for veterans like Gary Finn, formerly of the RAF. He initially joined the A2W sales team and has recently taken on the role of Field Support Engineer. Similarly, Beth Ellis, who served in the Royal Artillery, has thrived as a National Key Account Manager in the Air-to-Air team.
Emily Charalambous, who joined Panasonic in the A2W sales team after serving in the Royal Wessex Yeomanry, noted that her leadership and people skills from the military have been valuable in her new role, explaining that her ability to make quick decisions and work effectively in a team has proved crucial.
Panasonic says its efforts to integrate ex-forces personnel extend beyond recruitment. The company provides tailored training and career development opportunities, helping veterans transition smoothly into civilian roles. This supports the individuals and addresses industry skill gaps with highly disciplined and skilled talent.
