Trane's Sintesis Advantage CGAF air-cooled chillers with low-GWP R454B refrigerant are now available in capacities ranging from 150 to 670 kW. The units are said deliver up to 5 per cent better cooling efficiency and an equally wide operating map compared to equivalent models with R410A.
R454B, a non-ozone depleting HFO/HFC blend, has a GWP level of 467, the lowest among the refrigerants available for scroll compressor technology. R454B offers 76 per cent reduction in direct GWP impact against R410A and 34 per cent reduction against R32 .
Louis Rompre, portfolio manager at Trane in Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “Since 2014, Trane has been designing products operating with ultra-low GWP refrigerants that are responsible for the environment and good for our customers’ business without sacrificing quality, reliability or performance. By moving directly from R410A to R454B we continue to be front running in the marketplace and offer our customers the highest possible GWP reduction of all the potential replacements.”
The new models are part of the EcoWise portfolio designed to lower the environmental impact of Trane Technologies’ products, organisation and customers.
Trane says it will soon complete its offering of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with low and ultra-low GWP refrigerants across all product ranges. Depending on the product portfolio and compressor technology, Trane already offers units with R513A, R514A, R1234ze and R1233zd(E). This strategy aligns with Trane Technologiess 2030 sustainability aspirations, and the commitment to reduce customers’ carbon emissions by one gigaton – equivalent to the annual emissions of Italy, France and the United Kingdom combined.
